Signing Up
Alright, let's get started! The first thing we need to do to get you set up is tosign you up for a new account. Let's head
over to the blogger website. There's
an in-depth look at this front page on the Getting
Started page, but for now we're just going to take a look at the upper
portion of the page, at a little blue box that looks like the image on the
left. When you press the button labeled "Start Now", it'll take
you to another screen, which will give you a whole set of options for signing
up. That's what we're looking
for, right there. This is your first time to blogger, so we're going to
have to set you up with a new account. The first thing you're going to have
to do is think up a user name. it doesn't have to be anything clever, because
no one will ever have to see it except for you. try to think up something
unique. I used "Blogging_101" as my username when i created this
tutorial. After picking out your username, fill in your first name and then
your last name, in their respective boxes, and then fill in your e-mail
address. If you don't have one, you're going to have to sign up for one
at a free e-mail host like Hotmail,
but I'm not covering that here. Don't worry, though, because in the years
that I've been using blogger, I've had no reason to distrust their confidence.
After you give them a little bit of personally identifying information,
it's time to think up a password. Remember to make sure to pick a password
that no one will guess, but that you'll be able to remember easily. Write
it down if you have to, just in case. Type that in twice, and then click
on the "sign up" button.Did it work? If the page that comes up tells you that your user name is taken, you're going to have to think up a new name. Don't worry, you're just repeating some of the steps above. After everything here is done, it's time to go on to the next page. Look familiar? If it worked, you'll end up back on the Blogger front page again, but with a few minor changes. The sign in and sign up bars are replaced with the image you see to yourleft, giving you the options to create a new blog and to sign out. We're trying to get you set up with a new blog, so we're going to click on that create a new blog link. Click here for the next page in our sign up tutorial. main screen, except that the log-in box will be replaced with this one below. ![]() Great, we've made it this far, there's no turning back now! Click on the link for page 2 and off we'll go! |
