Signing Up

Alright, let's get started! The first thing we need to do to get you set up is tosign you up for a new account. Let's head signup bar over to the blogger website. There's an in-depth look at this front page on the Getting Started page, but for now we're just going to take a look at the upper portion of the page, at a little blue box that looks like the image on the left. When you press the button labeled "Start Now", it'll take you to another screen, which will give you a whole set of options for signing up.signup options That's what we're looking for, right there. This is your first time to blogger, so we're going to have to set you up with a new account. The first thing you're going to have to do is think up a user name. it doesn't have to be anything clever, because no one will ever have to see it except for you. try to think up something unique. I used "Blogging_101" as my username when i created this tutorial. After picking out your username, fill in your first name and then your last name, in their respective boxes, and then fill in your e-mail address. If you don't have one, you're going to have to sign up for one at a free e-mail host like Hotmail, but I'm not covering that here. Don't worry, though, because in the years that I've been using blogger, I've had no reason to distrust their confidence. After you give them a little bit of personally identifying information, it's time to think up a password. Remember to make sure to pick a password that no one will guess, but that you'll be able to remember easily. Write it down if you have to, just in case. Type that in twice, and then click on the "sign up" button.

Did it work? If the page that comes up tells you that your user name is taken, you're going to have to think up a new name. Don't worry, you're just repeating some of the steps above. After everything here is done, it's time to go on to the next page. Look familiar? If it worked, you'll end up back on the Blogger front page again, but with a few minor changes. The sign in and sign up bars are replaced with the image you see to yourleft, giving you the options to create a new blog and to sign out.
